Privacy Policy

Last updated

We collect the minimum needed to run your account and keep it secure. We do not sell your data, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use it to train our models. You can export or delete everything from Settings at any time.

1. Who controls your data

Ahmed Tambal, trading as FPL Master, of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. That means we decide why and how it is used, and we are accountable for it.

For anything to do with your data, write to info@fantasypremierleaguemaster.com.

We are established in the United Arab Emirates, so UAE Federal Decree-Law 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data applies to us directly. Because we offer this service to people in the United Kingdom and the European Union, the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR also apply to us under article 3(2) of each, and we hold ourselves to them. We additionally cover the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, and the comparable laws of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah and other US states with equivalent statutes.

Where these regimes differ, we apply whichever gives you the stronger protection rather than the weaker. It is simpler to run one high standard than several, and it means your rights do not depend on which country you happen to be reading this from.

We are in the process of appointing a representative in the United Kingdom under UK GDPR article 27. Until that is in place, please contact us directly at info@fantasypremierleaguemaster.com, and we will answer within the same statutory deadlines.

We are in the process of appointing a representative in the European Union under EU GDPR article 27. Until then, contact us directly at info@fantasypremierleaguemaster.com.

We do not ask for and do not want special category data: health, ethnicity, political opinions, religion, biometrics, sexual orientation, trade union membership. Please do not send it to us. We also never ask for your Fantasy Premier League password, and we do not handle card details ourselves.

3. Why we use it, and our lawful basis

UK and EU law requires a specific lawful basis for every purpose. Ours are set out in full below.

PurposeData usedLawful basis
Creating and running your account, and giving you the service you asked for.Account, profile, preferences, squad.Performance of a contract (UK GDPR art.6(1)(b)).
Keeping the service secure, preventing abuse, and investigating suspected account compromise.Technical and security data.Legitimate interests (art.6(1)(f)): protecting users and the service. Also a security obligation under art.32.
Sending service emails you have chosen, such as deadline reminders and price alerts.Account, preferences.Consent (art.6(1)(a)), withdrawable at any time in Settings.
Answering your messages.Support data, account.Legitimate interests: responding to the person who contacted us.
Understanding which parts of the product are used, so we improve the right things.Analytics data.Consent, given through the cookie banner and withdrawable at any time.
Meeting legal obligations, including tax records and responding to lawful requests.Whatever the obligation requires.Legal obligation (art.6(1)(c)).
Establishing, exercising or defending legal claims.Whatever is relevant to the claim.Legitimate interests, and art.9(2)(f) if special category data is ever involved.

Where we rely on legitimate interests we have weighed our interest against your rights, and you can object at any time using the contact address above.

4. Artificial intelligence, and what it does with your data

This section exists because saying only that a product uses AI tells you nothing useful. Here is exactly where it is used and what it can see.

Where AI is usedWhat it doesDoes it see your personal data?
Projection modelsEstimate how many points a footballer is likely to return, and with what spread of outcomes.No. Trained and run on public football data only.
Simulation enginePlays each gameweek out many times to produce probabilities rather than single numbers.No.
Explanation layerTurns the engine's own numbers into readable sentences.No. It receives the numbers and the player names, not your identity.
News translationTranslates third party news headlines and summaries into Arabic at ingest.No. It receives publishers' headlines, which are not personal to you.

We do not train models on your personal data. We do not send your email address, your name or your squad to any third party AI provider. Nothing you type into the product becomes training data for us or for anyone else.

You are not subject to a decision based solely on automated processing that produces legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affects you, within the meaning of UK GDPR art.22. Our models forecast football, not people.

5. Data about footballers

This section is about people who are not our users. A professional footballer is an identifiable living individual, so information about them is personal data and the law applies to it just as it applies to yours. Most football tools ignore this. We would rather set out what we do.

What we holdWhere it comes fromOur lawful basis
Name, club, position, price, ownership, appearances and scoring statistics.Published match data and the public Fantasy Premier League game.Legitimate interests (art.6(1)(f)): analysing published sporting performance is a normal and expected use of information a player's own profession puts in public.
Availability status, and headlines reporting injury, illness or suspension.Clubs' own announcements, managers' press conferences and publishers' RSS feeds.Legitimate interests, and see the note below on health information.

An injury report is information about someone's health, which UK GDPR treats as a special category needing extra justification. We rely on art.9(2)(e), which covers personal data manifestly made public by the data subject, since we only ever repeat what a club, a player or a player's representative has already announced publicly. We do not seek out medical information, we do not hold clinical detail such as diagnoses, scans or treatment, and we store only the availability signal plus the publisher's own headline and a link.

We do not profile players as individuals for any purpose beyond forecasting sporting performance, we make no judgement about their character, conduct or private life, and we do not sell or license player data to anyone.

Youth and academy players are excluded. We hold data only on players listed in the senior Fantasy Premier League game, and we do not knowingly process data about a player under 18.

If you are a player, a club or an agent and you want to know what we hold, or you object to it, write to info@fantasypremierleaguemaster.com. You have the same rights as any other data subject, including the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and we will respond within one month.

6. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data and we never have. We share it only with the service providers we need to run the product, each bound by a contract that limits them to acting on our instructions.

ProviderWhat they do for usWhere they process data
SupabaseDatabase, authentication and file storage. Holds your account and squad data.European Union region, unless stated otherwise in the product.
RenderHosts the website itself. Serves static files and sees request metadata.European Union region where available.
Google (Sign in with Google)Verifies who you are, only if you choose that sign-in method. Google tells us your email address and name.Global. Governed by Google's own privacy policy.
Email delivery providerSends confirmation, password reset and the alerts you opt into.European Union or United Kingdom.
Large language model providerGenerates explanation sentences and translates news headlines. Receives football data only.See the AI section above. No personal data is sent.

We will also disclose data where the law requires it, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights and safety of our users. If the business is ever transferred, your data may transfer with it, and we will tell you first.

7. Sending data outside the UK and EEA

We keep data in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area wherever we can. Where a provider processes data elsewhere, we rely on one of the legal safeguards permitted under UK GDPR chapter V and EU GDPR chapter V:

  • an adequacy decision covering the destination country;
  • the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses with the UK Addendum;
  • and, in each case, an assessment of whether extra technical protections are needed.

You can ask us for a copy of the safeguards in place by writing to info@fantasypremierleaguemaster.com.

8. How long we keep it

WhatHow longWhy
Account, profile, preferences and squad dataFor as long as your account exists. Deleted immediately and permanently when you delete your account.We cannot run an account without it, and keeping it after you leave would have no basis.
Operational data, including cached news and application logs10 days.Long enough to run and debug the service, short enough that little is held.
Security records, such as sign-in events and salted IP hashes30 days.Investigating account compromise is itself a security duty under art.32, and 10 days is too short for a user to notice and report a problem.
Analytics sessions and the pages visited within them, if you accepted analytics90 days.Long enough to see whether people return over a season, short enough that no long term profile builds up. The visitor identifier is a salted hash whose salt changes every day, so it cannot follow you from one day to the next.
Anonymous page counts, whether or not you accepted analyticsKept indefinitely.A tally of how many times a page was opened, with the day, country and device type and no identifier of any kind. There is nothing in it that could be traced to a person, so there is nothing to expire, and we compare it year on year.
Records we must keep by law, such as tax and payment recordsAs long as the law requires, currently up to 6 years for UK tax records.Legal obligation. This overrides the shorter periods above, but only for the specific records concerned.
Support correspondence24 months.So we can follow up and see the history of an issue.

Deleting your account is not a soft delete. It removes your profile, settings, squads, watchlist and consent record permanently, and there is no grace period and no undo. Export first if you want a copy.

9. Your rights in the UK and EU

Under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR you have the right to:

  • be told what we hold about you, and get a copy of it (access);
  • have inaccurate data corrected (rectification);
  • have your data deleted (erasure), which Settings does immediately;
  • restrict how we use your data while a concern is resolved;
  • receive your data in a portable, machine readable format, which the export button in Settings provides;
  • object to processing we base on legitimate interests, including any direct marketing;
  • withdraw consent at any time, without affecting anything done before you withdrew it;
  • not be subject to a solely automated decision with legal or similarly significant effect, which we do not make.

Most of these are self-service in Settings and take effect at once. For anything else, write to info@fantasypremierleaguemaster.com. We will answer within one month, and we will not charge you for exercising a right.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to a regulator. Being established outside the UK and the EU does not put us beyond their reach, and it does not remove your right to complain about us.

  • In the United Kingdom: the Information Commissioner's Office, ico.org.uk, or 0303 123 1113.
  • In the European Economic Area: the supervisory authority of the country you live or work in.
  • In the United Arab Emirates: the UAE Data Office, which supervises the federal data protection law we are directly subject to.

Please consider telling us first, at the address above, so we have a chance to put it right. You are not obliged to, and complaining to us does not use up your right to complain to a regulator afterwards.

10. Your rights in the United States

If you live in California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah or another state with a comprehensive privacy law, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and why, to get a copy of it, to correct it, to delete it, and to be free from discrimination for exercising any of those rights. Use the export and delete controls in Settings, or write to info@fantasypremierleaguemaster.com.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act. We have not done so in the preceding 12 months, including for anyone under 16. There is therefore nothing for you to opt out of, and we honour Global Privacy Control signals regardless.

We do not collect sensitive personal information as the CPRA defines it, and so we do not use or disclose it for any purpose requiring a right to limit. You may use an authorised agent to make a request, and we will verify the request through the email address on the account.

11. How we protect it

  • Everything travels over HTTPS with modern TLS, and the site is served with HTTP Strict Transport Security.
  • Passwords are stored only as salted hashes using an industry standard algorithm. Nobody at our end can read your password, and we will never ask you for it.
  • New passwords are checked against known public breach corpora using a method that never sends your password anywhere.
  • Database access is enforced row by row, so a query can only ever return rows belonging to the signed-in user.
  • Sessions end automatically after 7 minutes of inactivity, enforced both in the browser and by the authentication service.
  • A strict Content Security Policy limits what the page is allowed to load or execute, which blunts cross-site scripting.
  • IP addresses are stored only as salted hashes, so security logs are useful for investigating account compromise without us holding an identifier in the clear. Our authentication provider records the address for a few minutes as part of its own sign-in log; an automated job runs every ten minutes to replace it with a salted hash and erase the original, and the whole record is deleted after 30 days.
  • We keep what we collect small, because data you do not hold cannot leak.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach occurs that is likely to risk your rights and freedoms, we will report it to the Information Commissioner's Office within 72 hours as required, and tell you without undue delay where the risk to you is high.

12. Children

The service is not intended for children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal data, write to info@fantasypremierleaguemaster.com and we will delete it.

13. Cookies

Cookies and similar technologies are covered in a separate document, including exactly what is set and how to change your mind.

Read the Cookie Policy

14. Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when what we do changes. If a change is material we will tell you in the product or by email before it takes effect. The date at the top of the page always shows the current version.

This document is published in English and Arabic. If the two versions differ, the English version governs.
